How do i lower temp of heat mat for my leo gecko’s?

i got 1 answer saying place a thin magazine between the tank and the heat pad i don’t know if thats safe or effective. but 108 f is not safe for leo geckos and i dont understand why they sale products for a certain animal if those products are dangerouse, any help ?

Newspaper, paper towels, or you could do what I do and fold up a small towel and lay it over or under the substrate.

Also I have no idea, same goes as heat rocks they have killed alot of reptiles but they are still selling them. It stinks
